It could also be for the senior who is recovering from a major illness or injury and they have to rely on someone to be there with them during the nighttime hours as well as the day. No matter why someone requires a live in caregiver, it’s nice to know that you can find these special individuals to be there for a loved one.
So what about temporary, short-term, or emergency situations? What about if you had hired someone for 24 hour home care and they suddenly left and there is no word whether they are coming back? What if your elderly loved one fell and became injured but he is expected to make a full recovery, but can’t get out of bed for a week or two, or even a month?
This type of emergency situation may leave some families feeling as though they are on their own, that there are no resources available to provide short-term, emergency 24 hour home care.
The truth is that many agencies that operate throughout the country have caregivers who can be there for your loved one around the clock for short or long-term care. Depending on the availability, there might be a single caregiver who would be able to move into your loved one’s home for a short period of time to care for them. You may also find that it could be necessary to rely on several caregivers throughout the day and a different one at night.
The only way to know what is available for you or your loved one at this time would be to contact one or more home care agencies in the area and let them know the situation. Odds are that they will be able to provide some level of 24 hour home care for your loved one for either a long period of time or a short one.
Live in care for seniors tends to refer to live in caregiver for longer periods of time, but it’s certainly possible to have 24 hour home care for emergency situations.
